Boo to You!

Costumes were selected pretty early in the season this year. Ben decided to be a Vampire and Ry, a bat. The costumes were much easier to construct that last year's Egyptian Pharaoh, which was an especially good thing given the fact that I didn't start them until last week.

Ben really enjoyed the black hairspray and makeup that went along with his costume. Ry was a slightly more reluctant bat. Once the candy started flowing, he overcame some of this trepidation.

Where have we been?

October was an exceptionally busy month. Worse than average. What were we doing? Well, there was an actual, honest dam crisis that stole Travis from us for more than 13 days. During that time, he worked more than 225 hours. A crazy amount. There was a tax deadline (when is there not a tax deadline?). There were soccer practices. There were soccer games. There were birthday parties. There were school projects. There were visitors. There was getting ready for Halloween. There was homework. There was a lot of time spent in the car. You know, all that stuff that makes up a life.

I'm hopeful that all that stuff will be a little less consuming in November. But, I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the above will just be replaced with something new.

I'll try to do some catchup, but since I know anyone who might still be looking will be most interested in the boy's costumes and the ensuing Halloween extravaganza, I figured I better be sure to get those posted.

New Addition

I know, I know. She's really pretty. She's shiny and smooth. And, she's HUGE! The biggest fridge we could get from Lowe's. The delivery people were really happy to bring it in, especially after taking the other older, less desirable model downstairs.
Yes, the plastic stays on until she's in her final spot.
We're not quite sure what to name her yet, but I'm sure something will come to us. Or maybe to one of you?

Run for the Arts

Ben and Ry both participated in Run for the Arts today - it's a fundraiser for art supplies and field trips for their school.
Ben has already been around the track a few times - it's his third year doing the run. Ben did great, running almost the entire 30 minutes. He completed 34 laps, the most in his class. Competitive much?
It's Ry's first go round. And it was a slow go round. There was no running from him. We did manage, however, to walk 8 laps. Not too bad for someone who spent a big chunk of the morning looking like this:
