Sweet Sleepers

While this is certainly very sweet, I'm not quite sure how they pulled it off - I've smelled their breath in the morning and they are awfully close to one another ...

Latino Festival

Yeah, so this is totally out of order and from April, but I couldn't resist these two photos. Ben played a soldier in the "Stone Soup" play for the annual TIS Latino Festival. Ben's class was one of only two to perform a play instead of a traditional dance. As the other class was the fifth grade class, the kindergartners ability to learn all their lines and deliver a flawless performance was especially impressive. It was Ben's favorite part of the year.

When the Box ...

... gives you fava beans, what do you do?

You make fava bean hummus, use the other greens from the box and make pizza, of course! Although Ry declared it "weird pizza" it was still eaten and Ben asked for seconds.

Rose Festival 2009

Much like my luck when picking the grocery line, the day we finally made it to the Rose Festival was the first rainy day of the festival. Interestingly, this coincided with Ben's first day of summer vacation. The boys still mostly had fun even tho it was a bit cold. The mostly is for the last picture. Ry no likey.

Naked Ladies

The boys really enjoy listening to music - at home, in the car, on YouTube. Any song with a repetitive, catchy lyric is popular - easy to memorize and regurgitate, much to my enjoyment.

Their favorites include Jack Johnson, Bob Marley, and Jimmy Buffet, among others. Ry wanted to know if Daddy liked the some of the same bands, and asked, "Daddy, do you like the naked ladies?"

Travis replied, without hesitation, "Yes, yes I do."

Ry, it's the BAREnaked Ladies. BAREnaked Ladies.

Chicks, Man

On Friday, the boys and I picked up some really cute Buff Orpingtons from the Urban Farm Store. We served as a temporary halfway house for chicks before they were sent to their final destination with Auntie Jannie and Uncle Dork up at Huckleberry Hollow. They have made the trip north and apparently are getting settled. But, for a few short hours, we were happy chicken owners! Travis was at work, so he couldn't sour the mood. The boys (and one curious, slightly annoyed Kenzie) enjoyed our visitors - Petal, Sweetpea, Daisy & Violet.

Also, I must pass along the following suggested picture titles from Travis:

Ben and Ry Picking Up Chicks
Ben and Ry as Chick Magnets
Ben and Ry are good with the Chicks
